Dunnies

I guess it's the same the world over: wherever there are bikers (or cyclists) there are bikers' cafés.  Dunnies (Wharfe View Café) is one such, pleasantly situated just by the river bridge in Otley.  It's been there as long as I can remember and there are always bikers there, either just starting a ride, having a pit-stop in the middle of one or congregating at the end of a day out.  It's what's known as a 'greasy spoon' and 'full English breakfast' (eggs, bacon, fried bread, beans etc) served all day, bacon or chip butties and strong tea are the mainstays of the menu.  Let's hope such places never die out, as they do add colour and life to the local scene.

  1. I've been to greasy spoons with great food... but I'm not sure I'd be up for sharing a meal with this "colour and life"... LOL! Mind you, the bikers in your shot don't look anything like the ones I've seen in NA... where you don't want to be caught looking sideways at them.

  4. You are right - we need these places. The Black Bull here that I mentioned yesterday is a bit of a biker bar.

  5. I've been battling to keep up with all of the wonderful blogs I follow, Jenny and have really missed yours! I have been limiting my blogging time very strictly since my life became a lot more demanding (puppy demands)...I'm wondering if it's going to be any different when grandchildren enter the scene :)

How are you keeping? I can just imagine the excitement mounting as time gets closer to the arrival of your first precious grandchild! Still finding it hard to resist shopping for the baby? Got that library of books you've been working on set up and ready?

I'm off to catch up on all the posts I've missed...probably won't leave a comment on each this time, though.
