Nature's paintbox

'You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.'  Isaiah 55:12

Quite apart from this being a rather glorious celebration of Nature's paintbox, one that put me in mind of the quote above, I am posting it as an illustration of how autumn seems to be creeping in rather early this year (it was taken on Thursday 15th).  The leaves, especially on the more ornamental trees, are already showing a flush of very vibrant colour.  I took a photo of this same tree a couple of years ago in October and it was not much more colourful than it is now.  It's a joy to see the coral tones against a blue sky, though we have had only one day this week when the sun shone and the sky was blue.  Otherwise - wind, heavy rain showers or grey drizzle.  When the wind blows, trees really do look as though they're clapping, don't you think?

  1. I guess it is only right that you should be seeing autumnal colours since spring has definitely hit our shores. Love the image of clapping trees. I had never imagined it that way. I hope you have some sunshine today.

  2. YES Jenny, agree with you, their leaves look like small hands all clapping joyfully. :)
To appreciate the red-yellow-brown multicolor leaves in the nature surrounding us is also capturing every single details of this fragile autumn season. Deep inside me, my japanese side tells me this is the joy of our life, wich is also fragile but still so precious...
Have a great peaceful sunday Jenny...

  3. I hadn't thought of that Jenny - must watch out next windy day for those clapping hands! The deep burnished colourings of the autominal leaves are gorgeous against the pretty blue sky - definitely nature's paintbox!

  4. Hi Jenny, this is my first time at your blog. Weather patterns seem to be changing a lot nowadays. I'm sure you feel summer has come and gone too fast!

I too am from England and I'm living in Malaysia where it is always summer!

  6. Outstanding, Jenny. I was surprised to see this much color already. Here in southern New England, most trees are still mainly green, but are getting ready to burst into color. We will see most color next month.

  11. Yes, I would say your trees are turning a bit early...at least early for here. We are just barely seeing the first leaves turn this week. The best peak is usually the second week of October. The photo is lovely...the colors always look wonderful against a blue sky!

  12. Gorgeous autumn image... Having just had a few days of typhoon storm, this view would be welcome. Fall colours are one thing I miss seeing here in the tropics.
