Spring commute

I often think I must have one of the most pleasant commutes to work possible (in an urban area at least).  It's a 15 minute walk, with three possible routes - along the main road (slightly quicker), through Salts Mill yard (often interesting) or along the canal (soothing but distracting!)  At the moment, the mornings are usually very bright but quite chilly.  I do think the colours the Spring wears are lovely.  Bright greens and yellows look so cheery against a pure blue sky.  Some of the trees seem particularly vibrant this year.  I think these bright yellow-green explosions are flowers/pollen rather than new leaves, though I am not 100% sure.  They seem to me to be more noticeable than I remember in previous springs - or maybe I'm just walking round with my eyes open this year.

  1. Us photographers always walk around with eyes wide open ... ever on the watch out for something interesting to capture. Now which route would I take? well I think along the canals sound just perfect.

  2. I agree with Dianne. You're seeing the world through a photographer's eyes.

  3. Before retiring, I had the same choice and usually took the canal route. Stunning views at different times of year, but one of my favourites was of mist rising off the water at 7.15ish with the sun just coming up behind Wrose Hill.

  4. A 15 minute walk through Saltaire. Beats an hour on the M1 every time!
I'm glad you enjoy it. Take the canal route and watch out for kingfishers. (I know you know they're there.) It's one of my favourite memories of the area around Salt's Mill.

  5. That would be good to have 3 different routes to take. I think I'd be taking the soothing but distracting route. The shot above is very calming and pretty.
Talking about scenic commutes, our daughter took a picture of her daily commute to work. It is pretty impressive.
She travels by ferry from Rose Bay to Circular Quay on Sydney Harbour. Her photo is here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000657960965

  6. It is a pleasant commute, for sure. There was a time when my commute took me over Black Oak Ridge where I saw Windrock Mountain and the Cumberland Escarpment every morning. Every morning the light was different, the colors were different, and the whole mood was different. I started every day in a positive state of mind! Jim

  7. You are lucky with your commute!
I love the daffodils! You should at least do them justice by adding something on their behalf to your key words!

  9. You are lucky to be within walking distance of your work, and triply lucky to have three fine routes to choose from.
