More colourful flowers. These are varieties of chives, growing in the Wash House community garden in the centre of Saltaire village. Not only are they attractive but the leaves can also be used in salads and cooked dishes. (Note to self: Why don't I plant some of these in the backyard?)

  1. Why not indeed, bt make sure to pick them before they go to seed as they self-sow all over the place.

  2. I've had a big pot of them on my roof for years!

  3. I have some chives growing in my herb basket. I use them several times a week in cooking. I did not know they got flowers. I keep cutting them to use, but I am letting one batch of basil go to seed just for the flowers. Lovely post Jenny
