I believe it provides a solid wall behind which his sheep can shelter from the harsh winter snowdrifts. peter woodshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07535535150947166836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692250389062665906.post-73800789307219423032018-07-18T15:09:16.456+01:002018-07-18T15:09:16.456+01:00They're in a beautiful landscape. They're in a beautiful landscape.William Kendallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00331324250821836822noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692250389062665906.post-6615579714914084072018-07-18T14:12:46.533+01:002018-07-18T14:12:46.533+01:00Those are beautiful walls, Jenny! Those are beautiful walls, Jenny!RedPathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06980471119229896414noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5692250389062665906.post-3269463022206736402018-07-18T13:12:56.973+01:002018-07-18T13:12:56.973+01:00Drystone walls are rare, but do stand up to time d...Drystone walls are rare, but do stand up to time due to the well balanced placement of different size stones. We 'discovered' the Gayle Mill several years ago whilst roaming about in Yorkshire. Nearly died of heart failure on the 'quick way to Skipton' as a local directed us. As Australians we are not used to roads with 20% incline bordered by rock fences. Just loved the Hebden Bridge photos as my ancestors left there in 1854 and I just loved visiting it as well as Heptonstall. I suppose with the maiden name of Sutcliffe I felt at home. Cheers from Geelong. Liz Mchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07632172356471310270noreply@blogger.com
