There are a few points around the Aire valley where you can get a good view down onto Saltaire - especially in winter when the trees are bare. This is taken from the aptly named High Bank Lane. The landmarks, from left to right, are: the tower of Saltaire URC, St Peter's Church, the Italianate tower of Saltaire's New Mill and the long bulk of Salts Mill with its chimney to the right. You get a good impression of the size of Salts Mill, compared with other things around. High up on the far hillside you can see the village of Baildon.
A beautiful day for a wonderful view.
ReplyDeleteFrom up here, there is clarity about where the different landmarks are in relation to one another and also their relative sizes. Interesting photo. I like the bird's eye view.
ReplyDeleteThanks for that photo! Although close-up shots are usually my favorite, I really enjoyed seeing the panorama, especially since you identified the various towers. (I'm sure I need to visit St. Peter's Church.) And I'll never get over how close together the villages are!
ReplyDeleteA bright beauty in the winter sun!the valley is like a nest for your city!
ReplyDeleteWe were going to come to Saltaire today, but the prospect of the M62 in thick fog put us off! That photo is great. The mill is an awesome building. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat is a good vantage point to see the area. I think I get it, but no quizzes about Saltaire geography, OK?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I recognize various bits from your past posts!
ReplyDeleteWe're happy to see this bird's-eye view of your charming city!
ReplyDeleteMarvellous "bird's eyeview" from here, Jenny. Is the perspective much clearer in wintertime, in relation to being able to see the village of Baildon? This picture certainly shows how relatively close everything is.
ReplyDeleteThat is nice to see Saltaire from this perspective. It looks as though that other town is pretty close too. ~Lili
ReplyDeleteWhat a great view of your lovely city, Jenny!
