Christmas lights

The lights of the Christmas tree in the 1853 Gallery, Salts Mill, Saltaire are reflected in the window - and outside, the Victorian mill looks rather ghostly in the snow.  Part art gallery, part shop selling art books and artists materials, the 1853 Gallery displays a large collection of paintings by David Hockney (originally a local lad, born in Bradford).  There are all sorts of interesting artefacts scattered around, including a lovely collection of ceramics made in the 19th century at the Burmantofts pottery in Leeds.  This large planter is one of them.

Weekend Reflections is hosted by James at Newtown Area Photo.

  6. It makes me think of those drawings for kids, you know, you have to make a line between the points and at the end, you discover the shape!very poetic shot!

  7. Hi Jenny

You have always had a great eye for detail; I'd have walked past that window, noticed the vase and fabulous fern... but would probably have missed the reflected lights.

Please keep looking, photographing and sharing =D

  10. Lovely atmosphere with the books (or are they something else?), lights and the beautiful planter. Though I love pottery, I had never heard of this one, I'm off to research it now.

  12. Lovely image.
That pot: I hope that one day they will replace the fern with "the biggest aspidistra in the world".
I'm sure that spot could accomodate it :-)

  19. I really like the pottery piece. I use to teach pottery to high school students so I like to figure out all the work it took to make it.
