The stretch of canal just beyond Hirst Lock is often rather dark and gloomy, shrouded in trees. Happily, one day when I walked up there, there was a bit of sun
and I remembered to change my camera's white balance to shade... amazing how that warms a picture up.
And I was lucky enough to get there just as this boat arrived. They had to pull over to allow one of the crew to hop out to operate the swing bridge and the lock. Quite hard work, this stretch of the canal. You thought you were just going for a lazy afternoon's cruise down to Saltaire, didn't you?
Marvelous. And thank you for the photo tip. I have to read my manual and figure out all of the ikons! It seems so warm and relaxing here...great illusion! gin
ReplyDeleteHard work, but I'd be willing to try it. :-) Love those canal and boat shots!!
ReplyDeleteI have just got back from a long walk along the Calder and Hebble Canal - it is just perfect weather for it. You can keep your Caribbean sunshine any day (I may come back and amend this sentence in a day or two). Let's pass on Otley as you have done it recently. You make a suggestion as it is easier for me to travel than you.
ReplyDeleteIt is a marvelous sight. I don't see anything wrong with the photo. It is very picturesque.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! The light in that photo is just lovely!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! I wouldn't mind living on a boat. Greetings from Montreal, Canada. My grandparents on my father's side were born in Kent.
ReplyDeleteIdyllic Scene. Always reminds me of Foxton.
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful river scene, jennyfreckles. I have read that we should set white balance to cloudy and leave it there.
ReplyDeleteThe Brits liked the election results? I would be glad to pay his airfare to ship him over!
Those canal boats are so enticing!
