I'll go no more a roving...


I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised to find that my favourite little footbridge was washed away in the floods....

  1. Quite often little footbridges like that are designed so that they DO wash away in times of flood. Otherwise they collect fallen branches and dam the stream, causing flooding upstream and, when they finally give way, a huge surge of water going down the valley. That was exactly what happened at Lynmouth in Devon, back in the 50s.

  6. I hope money can be found to restore the little rustic bridge.
