Turner-esque

Hmm, start a new series and then a sky like this comes along....  So amazing, I couldn't wait to show you!  I will return to my 'search for colour' tomorrow - though in fact there's plenty of colour here too.

I think J M W Turner, 'the painter of light', might have enjoyed this view over Saltaire, taken on Monday.

  1. Very dramatic . . . . I'm just trying to figure out where you took the image from . . . a hot air balloon perhaps, of maybe atop the Shipley market clock tower? ? ?Whatever, it is an excellent image. I wonder what it would look like in monochrome with the mill highlighted in honey colour ?

  3. Like the way you have let the sky dominate.

  4. Looks like a perfect day to be out with your camera. I have to admit a weakness for clouds and the way light plays on them. Jim

  6. It is a wonderful sky. One just has to interrupt and show what you have anyway. Great photo.

  8. Gorgeous and dramatic! Makes me think of El Greco's "View of Toledo."

  9. Yes, "Turneresque" is the word. You might want to frame this one.

  10. What a wonderful photograph. I really admire those who can see this kind of photo in a scene before recording it. It really is a gift. It's not one I have. (Slight lack of depth perception). But I certainly do recognize the gift when I see it.

  12. Sean's right I think, more Constable than Turner perhaps.

  13. It is a super sky but what I find interesting is how we can see the size of the mill building it looks huge from here.

  14. A wonderfully dramatic capture Jenny, and I agree with Diane B - that chimney is gi-normous!
