Roberts Park bandstand, Saltaire. Even in the mid-afternoon now, the sun is getting low and the shadows are long. I waited a while to see if the youngsters would move out of the bandstand but the smooth surface is good for sliding their scooters and skateboards around. In the end, perhaps the rim-lit figures add something. I begin to think I may be a little too impatient to get people-free shots. Sometimes I might give the impression that Saltaire is uninhabited, which is far from the case!
I have the same problem and have finally found that a few people often add something to the shot. This is a good one!
ReplyDeleteIn this case I think the combination of the people with the statue is absolutely lovely--they're somehow of the same importance/permanence.

ReplyDeleteJennyfreckles, you and I are opposites. I often wait for people to ENTER a scene. I think that people make an image more interesting. This one is perfect. You need to find a photo competition to enter it in!
ReplyDeleteIt is a great dusk shot and I believe that people bring photos alive, gives interest and perspective.
ReplyDeleteI'm like you -- usually avoiding people in my shots. But seeing this one, I realize that the people add something -- a touch of life, an untold story.
