Even when they're stabled, horses
move! But not necessarily when or how you want them to. And they rarely grant you that all-important 'ears forward' position. This study of a grey horse is pleasing though, I think, and it did oblige with the ears. Horses, like humans, seem to possess varying degrees of attractiveness. I thought this one looked rather appealing, with its long eyelashes.
A good portrait, Jenny. You sure are having fun with your new DSLR.
ReplyDeleteThis is a superb photograph, worthy of a frame in my opinion! Such a lovely animal with gentle eyes.
ReplyDeleteVery nice how you took this picture. I would never have thought about such a shot. Great.

ReplyDeleteThe Nikon is certainly proving to be a good investment.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOriginal well-executed photograph!
ReplyDeleteLove the eyelashes and the detail.
ReplyDeleteYes, the lashes were the first thing I noticed!
ReplyDeleteNice detail, Jenny. What lens were you using? Jim
ReplyDeleteGood detail in the shot, did you get one with the full head? Animals and kids, difficult to work with.
ReplyDeleteJim - I only have the 18-55mm kit lens that I bought with the camera. Here I had it at 50mm, 1/400, f5.6 and ISO 400.
ReplyDeleteThe detail and texture are beautifully captured. Makes me want to reach out and stroke him.
ReplyDeleteYes, beauty personified... you've captured him/her well... oh and those ears are soft.
ReplyDeleteI had exactly the same trouble with a Llama earlier on today; ears up, ears back, ears up, head turned away, small boy with bag of food and off I go... Grrrr
ReplyDeleteYour grey beauty's ears look so soft and the hair so smooth that I want to stroke her very gently.
A beautiful face - I didn't know about the ears forward position - but it makes for a prettier look!
ReplyDeleteThis photo is captivating...look at those beautiful eyelashes!
ReplyDeleteThat really is an amazing photograph.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful close-up! Love the way you cropped this image.
ReplyDeleteThis b+w horse portrait works for me. Very crisp around the face.
ReplyDeleteWhat a superb portrait of a very handsome horse!
ReplyDeleteI love this one. Such a great portrait of this beautiful creature. ~Lili
