The tree-loppers (
see here) are working their way down Victoria Road like a creeping plague. Outside the Victoria Hall, 'War' the lion's sunshade of leafy branches has been removed. The tree trunk will be felled in due course (if it hasn't been already), the pavement repaired and the lion will have to start wearing sunscreen.
What on earth were we thinking of when we planted trees in such locations? Don't think he'll be needing that sunscreen for a few months!
ReplyDeleteOh dear! Maybe the lion will like feeling the warm sun on his face.
ReplyDeleteOh dear it's such a shame cutting down trees, but I guess it's necessary. That's a fine building. Lets hope the lion will needs loads of sun cream in the summer :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a change that will be for the street. I hope they plant suitable trees soon.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that the residents of Saltaire will be happy to see the beauty of their buildings and statues once the trees are down and the light falls on them. Maybe they can be a lot more selective with the re-plantings.
