You did well to find attractive Petunias; most of them are getting spoiled by the rain. Maybe the owner takes the pots in when the heavens open!

My attention was drawn to the blue pipes, as well. I'm guessing indoor plumbing was added well after the houses were built, with the drains put on the outside during the retrofit?

Sadly, the best back-yard contest fizzled out a few years ago, but I do note that this year's Saltaire Festival is due to include open gardens on the first week-end (8/9 Sept)of this year's event.
