An attractive study in blue and white. All Saltaire's street signs have recently been restored to copies of the original blue and white ones -
see here. Money for the project was raised by individual sponsorship of the signs - kind of 'adopt-a-street-sign', which I thought was rather fun. It's nice to see a house number following suit.
A great mixture of texture and line in this shot. The blue signs must be attractive if this house number is to go by. It is very eye catching.
ReplyDeleteAnother attractive composition, jennyfreckles.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot! And a well-chosen number; it immediately reminded me of Rolling Rock Beer!
ReplyDeleteNice shot - but I bet you were relieved that no one came out just as you were framing your picture!
ReplyDeleteCan you have red?
ReplyDeleteDoors, yes; street signs, no!
DeleteOh that is very nice! What a great project!
ReplyDeleteTiled house numbers are quite common here.
ReplyDeleteYes, you get such lovely tiles in your country - in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if our tiled numbers didn't get bought there when someone was on holiday. I've often bought pretty tiles as gifts.
DeleteThank goodness the sponsorship did not mean that each had a "Sponsored by ...." printed on them
ReplyDeleteThe blue and white matches the door beautifully!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds as if Saltaire's residents are quite public-spirited.
ReplyDeleteSaltaire must be the only town on earth where its residents peacefully agree to do something ONE way, for the common good. Despite my bent towards individualism and eclecticism, I still appreciate the cohesiveness of elements in urban design -- but prefer it done with elegance (not brainless cookie-cutter), like here in Saltaire. Nice.
