Another contender for Weekend Reflections .... I do love reflections and this is a particularly peaceful image.
Actually, it's a very popular tourist spot and the footbridge and the adjacent stepping stones can sometimes hold a continuous stream of people crossing from one bank of the River Wharfe to the other. But I managed to catch a moment when all was quiet. It's a magical and, I think, very 'English' scene, especially when the cows wander down to drink in the river. When I was there last weekend, the water level in the river was quite low, but it can be deceptive and parts of the river have deep pools and nasty currents. A child sadly drowned here last year.
Happily, nothing spoilt the fun on Saturday and there were lots of families out picnicking, paddling and sampling delicious Yorkshire Dales ice-cream.
The shot is so romantic! Happy weekend
ReplyDeleteThis scene is so typically 'English', and I really like the way you've framed it.
ReplyDeleteVery nice picture! You did well to avoid the crowds. It was so busy when I last visited that shots of people on the stepping stones teetering close to disaster were the only interesting possibility.
ReplyDeleteLooks like some of the stepping stones aren't as near as I thought they were from yesterday's photo! Eek. Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteyour picture and the way you framed it make a beautyful and peaceful postcard; And you could caught the perfect moment, when noone was here:)
ReplyDeletei wish you a nice week-end!
Another lovely shot of the stones... and Louis la Vache would enjoy that charming bridge. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou commented on Anita's Metamorphoses shot today that the cocoons looked like precious vases... while I immediately thought I'd love to have earrings made to look exactly like that! :-D
What a beautiful place! I wish I has some Yorkshire Dales ice cream to sample with the photos!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful place Jenny.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Costas
It looks like it could be a scene from Wind In The Willows.
ReplyDeleteIt is a wonderful picture. The stones would be fun to walk across.
ReplyDeleteA lovely inviting spot!
ReplyDeleteBoth this and your previous post are magnificent reflection photos. Very lovely peaceful scenes quite different from anything where I live!
ReplyDeleteIf I remember rightly there are two footbridges over the wharf at Bolton Abbey - I have an old b&w photo of one (the other one I think) taken about forty years ago. It always was quite an idyllic spot.
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful scene! Your comments about our safety laws (or lack of them) made me laugh. And I thought the U.S. was the land of hypervigilance! I've never thought about the two you brought up - train track barriars and placement of fire hydrants. Interesting to ponder!
ReplyDeleteThank for your visit ! Your capture is very romantic and the colours are beautiful !
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful capture - and I like the way you have framed it too.
ReplyDeleteThe place is so beautiful. So peaceful and relaxing view. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteLoving how you framed this beautiful scene, and also the thought of eating ice cream too! ~Lili
