All quiet in Saltaire
I've been looking out for shots that would fit the theme 'Through a Window', the February challenge for my online photo group. This one was taken through a window in the stairwell of Salts Mill, looking out at the Saltaire Dining Room, the railway station and Saltaire URC's tower. It was a weekend but I happened upon a relatively quiet moment - no trains and few people about. The weak spring sunshine was pleasant but overall I didn't think it was an image with much impact.

It almost makes it into four separate photographs, three of which could easily stand on their own feet.
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't know....I always love seeing that tower...and framed by a window, it's really beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWindows can make good frames for a photo. Maybe for more impact it could have been taken at an angle and not looking straight through the middle of the window. Also the centre vertical line cuts the pic in half so the viewer is not sure which side of the photo to look at and so doesn't hold the viewer's eye.Hope you don't mind my critique it is just some tips I've learnt from our camera club.
ReplyDeleteI think that's a great 'through the window' shot! (agreeing with Alan above)
ReplyDeleteI love pictures through windows and arches. You have a bit of both happening here.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, though you did manage to find very nice golden light.
