Heralds

“She turned to the sunlight
    And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
    "Winter is dead.”

I was cheered by these harbingers of spring: daffodils and wild celandines, clustered around the roots of an old tree in a random but pleasing display.

  4. Daffodils always cheer me. They're the first flowers that come up in my garden. Still waiting. Still a foot of snow on top of them.
