Quite often little footbridges like that are designed so that they DO wash away in times of flood. Otherwise they collect fallen branches and dam the stream, causing flooding upstream and, when they finally give way, a huge surge of water going down the valley. That was exactly what happened at Lynmouth in Devon, back in the 50s.
I hope money can be found to restore the little rustic bridge.
I tried to comment here a few nights ago and was not able. I don't know if it was your blog or my laptop that had indigestion, but both seem happy tonight.

ReplyDeleteMmm, hadn't thought of that. You are very wise and clued-up, John.
DeleteWhat a shame Jenny, hopefully they will rebuild, beautiful spot for walking.
ReplyDeleteSad... Hope they rebuild it for you!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it can be rebuilt sooner as opposed to later.
ReplyDeleteI hope they replace it for you soon, Jenny!
