Chilly
Mallard ducks lined up alongside the canal basin in Skipton. They were fluffed up because of the cold and looked a bit sleepy. I think we should all be able to hibernate in this weather.
Oh Jenny! I absolutely love this photo. I have a soft spot for ducks, for canal boats, and for water. So all the ingredients are there. I have a bedroom upstairs that we call 'The Yorkshire Room' because I have several posters on the wall of photos I took while in Yorkshire. This would have made a great poster! It's perfect.
Well, hibernate would be my second choice. A lovely resort on the beaches of Hawaii would be my first choice! HaHa This is a great composition, love the color. You stay warm this weekend!
Nice shot. I probably shouldn't tell you this, but we're going to hit 80 degrees this weekend. Sounds nice, but it doesn't do much to get you in the holiday mood!
Absolutely love the colouring of mallards! Such a striking contrast...their irridescent green juxtaposed against the red of the boat - true Christmas colours ;)
Mallards are discouraged in SA, as they breed with the indigenous white ducks and the latter are now greatly threatened.
Oh I agree!!! Yes please, please, please, please..
ReplyDelete(Though, if we did, we'd miss beautiful shots like these!)
Expecting to have chilly weather here also from today.
ReplyDeletehave a great day Jenny.

ReplyDeleteI can feel their chill! Lovely photo of the ducks in winter, Jenny.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos on your site, but the recent posts look soooo cold!
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely enjoying the sunshine. Beautiful light.

ReplyDeleteGreat photo and hibernation does sound inviting.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth : )
Even those ducks look cold. A lovely shot, Jenny.
ReplyDeleteI like how the wild fowl can survive as long as the water stays unfrozen. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteThe deep blue of the water and the lovely colours of the ducks - perfect composition! I wish you a nice new week and send hugs from Luzia.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing any kind of bird fluffed up like that!
