Virgin snow

I'm getting bored with 'ordinary' snow pictures.  (Oh dear, that could be difficult if the winter carries on as it has begun.)  For the sake of something a bit different, I started playing with this image - gave it the mono treatment, a minor crop and a bit of experimenting with blending modes.  Can anyone guess where I might have taken it?

  1. The Guggenheim. No of course not but that's the image it conjures up for me. Superb. Merry Christmas!

  2. My first thought was 'bandstand', but I don't think it has so many steps. Sir Titus's statue has a square base, I'm sure. The steps up to Victoria Hall don't curve and I can't think of a set of steps like this round the Mill. I'm going to guess at the URC.

  4. Nice shot and good to see that you have White snow, too many people put up snow shots straight out of the camera when they have not used compensation, result, grey snow. This shot works well.

  6. Fantastic simple abstract - looks really good with the treatment you've given it.

Errm, is it the steps up to the church in Saltaire?

  7. Well, let's see. The bandstand is round, so it could be the bandstand. But after scrolling back a few days my first guess is Saltaire URC.

By the way, this is an excellent image Jenny.

  9. Yes, you all guessed right. It's those lovely curved steps at the entrance to Saltaire's United Reformed Church. Some very observant people out there - well done.

And thank you all for your Christmas greetings too.

  19. Jenny, I so like where you've come with your photography... nice experimentation.. it's working! This is a super abstract image... very clear and that's not easy to do with white snow, post-treatment or not.
