Old Bingley
From the vantage point of Ireland Bridge, Bingley's parish church and the cluster of old houses around it looks quite pretty. It would be a lovely place to live, if only the river didn't regularly flood these properties.
Strange because those houses look to have been there a long while and our ancestors usually knew the lie of the land better than modern planners. I don't think I'd fancy living there.
Many old parish churches wii be endangered having been built next to rivers which will rise as the climatic change advances.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't live with the constant risk of flooding!
ReplyDeleteIt's a beautiful scene Jenny but like Pat I couldn't live with the thought each year that the river might flood ☺
ReplyDeleteI can see that being quite problematic. The ground looks quite low compared to the river levels.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image !
