A sunny day at Harlow Carr

It's several months since I last went to RHS Harlow Carr Gardens, near Harrogate. I like to visit at least once each season, as different parts of the garden have starring roles at different times of the year. I have annual membership, so I just get my card swiped at the entrance and it feels like I own the place! At this time of year, the long herbaceous borders are coming into their prime.

There are wonderful displays of sweet peas in the kitchen garden. Their fragrance is sublime. I wish we could have blogs that convey scent!

The shady streamside is also quite pretty. The candelabra primulas are almost over but still add some colour.

There are water lilies on the ponds, though I couldn't see the sacred lotus flower (HERE) this year.

  1. Harlow Carr is a lovely place.Your last photo reminds me a little of Renoir's garden, which I believe our star roving reporter has also visited.

  5. I enjoyed my one and only visit there one rainy day about twenty years ago. I know what you mean about that feeling of possession that comes through membership, I feel like that when I nonchalantly flash my card at the Botanics.
